If you happen to follow the Imagination Library of Washington on Facebook, you've most likely had the pleasure of viewing our special, limited-edition book readings on Tuesday's and Thursday's for December's "Give the Gift of Literacy" campaign. What better way to share in the joy of the holidays than inspiring the love of reading and books for all Washington children. Story times are hosted by well-known Washington leaders, authors, performers, athletes, and more! Since the campaign launch on December 1, featured Washingtonian's include award-winning children's book author Carole Lexa Shaefer, Superintendent of Public Instruction Chris Reykdal, and Pacific Northwest Ballet Principal Dancer Abby Jayne DeAngelo. Many more book readings will be showcased online in the coming weeks and can also be accessed by visiting the Imagination Library of Washington website here.

Along with the limited-edition book readings, the “Give the Gift of Literacy” campaign encourages making a donation to support Imagination Library of Washington’s important work of expanding Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library to every corner of the state, gifting children a free book in the mail every month until they turn five. Families are also urged to check program availability in their region and register their children for free books.

Help us spread the word and encourage your friends, neighbors, and colleagues to follow us online during the month of December! Together, we can change the life of a child, one page at a time.

Happy holidays!
