With incredible growth occurring throughout Washington to expand Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library to every zip code in every county, King County represents the largest number of children who are eligible to enroll in the Imagination Library, representing over 128,000 children from 0-5. To date, over 30,000 Washington early learners are receiving free monthly books. Imagination Library of Washington’s statewide goal is to enroll 150,000 children by June of 2023, and achieving this milestone will uplift, inspire, and prepare children for success in school and beyond.
Rita Green, MBA, from Africatown Community Land Trust stated, “Africatown is happy to be partnering with Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library to inspire early reading habits to children in our community. Reading 30 minutes a day helps to grow children’s vocabulary and we are proud to contribute to this positive outcome. We hope to bring joy to new readers by providing them with age-appropriate books monthly.”
Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library sends a free, age-appropriate book monthly to every child enrolled in the program from birth to age 5. This early literacy program provides equitable access to books, increases Kindergarten readiness, and fosters a love of reading and books amongst our youngest learners.
