Be a literacy hero! Join Dolly's mission and help bring FREE monthly books to young children in your community.
Do you have a passion for helping young children grow their love of reading and learning? If so, we need YOU! We are looking for nonprofit partners and funders in specific areas of Washington (King, Pierce, and Spokane counties) to help us start a local program and expand Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library to more children in your community.
Local program partners make it possible for children from birth to age five to enroll in the Imagination Library and receive a high quality, age-appropriate book in the mail every month, inspiring a love of reading and learning and preparing our youngest generation for a successful transition into kindergarten! Improving early childhood literacy with Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library creates opportunities for children to thrive so that they succeed in school and help their communities grow and prosper.
What is the role of an Imagination Library local program partner?
As Dolly says, local program partners are the true heroes of her Imagination Library. Program partners make the program accessible to all children from birth to age five in their local area.
Local program partners:
- Pay the wholesale cost of books and mailing for children in their selected coverage area ($2.60 per child/month) - Imagination Library of Washington covers 50% of local program partner monthly book and mailing costs
- Promote Dolly Parton's Imagination Library and build awareness
- Register eligible children to participate (ages 0-5)
- Manage a Book Order System provided by The Dollywood Foundation
"Knowing that we are filling such a crucial role in helping to prepare our earliest learners for future success is inspiring. We consistently hear from parents, educators, healthcare professionals, and local social service organizations how important this program is and what a key role low-barrier access to books plays in children’s development.”- Local Program Partner, United Way of Whatcom County
