Empowering Young Minds: Imagination Library of Washington Partners with G.E.H.A to Enhance Literacy Opportunities for Military Families
New and innovative partnerships continue to bloom for Imagination Library of Washington, with the most recent collaboration coming to life with G.E.H.A (Government Employees Health Association), one of the largest health benefits providers for federal employees, federal retirees, military retirees and their families. Their commitment to the well-being of these communities aligns perfectly with our vision of fostering strong, literate families.
On Wednesday, Nov. 13, a special ceremony was held at the U.S. Naval Undersea Museum in Keyport, WA, to celebrate G.E.H.A’s generous $15,000 grant to the Imagination Library of Washington. This funding will expand access to free books for young children in military families across three of Washington’s key military communities: Naval Base Kitsap, Joint Base Lewis-McChord, and Naval Station Everett. G.E.H.A is dedicated to supporting military veterans and their families by partnering with like-minded organizations to effectively serve the veteran community. The $15,000 grant exemplifies the organization’s ongoing dedication to fostering educational opportunities and improving the well-being of military families.
By providing free books to these families through Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, the goal is to create a sense of continuity and comfort for children, no matter where life takes them. Reading together can be a powerful way for military families to connect and build lasting memories.
“We are so grateful for the opportunity to partner with G.E.H.A to uplift military families in Washington via Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library. This partnership will enhance family bonds, increase enrollment, and instill a love of reading for these very special families who have served or serve our country. It is partnerships like this that fuel the flame of our statewide program, allowing it to continue brightening lives,” stated Brooke Fisher-Clark, Executive Director of Imagination Library of Washington.
