Since Washington’s statewide Imagination Library program began in early 2022, program expansion has been rapidly growing in every county throughout the state, with 43 active affiliate programs serving children from birth up to age five with a free monthly book from Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library. In Pierce County, Lakewood Rotary Club has recently become an affiliate providing books to kids living in the 98433, 98498, and 98499 zip codes.

“The lives of our youngest learners in Pierce County are about to light up, igniting a love of reading and learning thanks to the Lakewood Rotary Club, their many members and community supporters. We are so pleased for more children to have this opportunity to grow and expand their imagination through high quality books,” stated Brooke Fisher-Clark, Executive Director of Imagination Library of Washington.

Families with children from birth up to age five can sign up their child to begin receiving books by visiting www.imaginationlibrarywashington.org.

Across Washington, over 54,000 children are currently enrolled in the Imagination Library, with new registrations happening daily. Presently, targeted enrollment efforts are taking place in King, Pierce, Snohomish, and Skagit counties to ensure more children have access to free books from Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library.

Since launching in 1995, Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library has become the preeminent early childhood book-gifting program in the world. The Imagination Library has gifted over 204 million free books in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Australia, and The Republic of Ireland, and mails more than 2 million high-quality, age-appropriate books each month to enrolled children from birth to age five.  This is achieved through funding shared by The Dollywood Foundation and Local Program Partners. Dolly envisioned creating a lifelong love of reading and inspiring children to Dream More, Learn More, Care More and Be More.

The program has been widely researched and results demonstrate its positive impact on early childhood development and literacy skills.
