New Program Affiliate, Royal City Friends of the Library, Expands Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library in Grant and Adams Counties

Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library is continuing to expand and reach more families with young children across Washington State, with the newest program expansion taking place in Grant and Adams counties through new affiliate, Royal City Friends of the Library.

“Big congrats to Royal City Friends of the Library for helping us increase program access to more Washington children! It is our affiliates who are the lifeblood and heroes of this amazing early literacy program, and we are so grateful for their leadership,” stated Imagination Library of Washington Executive Director, Brooke Fisher-Clark.

Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library mails high quality, age-appropriate books each month to children from birth up to five years old, at no cost to the family. This early literacy program is proven to achieve equitable access to books, increase school readiness, foster a love of reading and books, and improve family engagement. In 1995, Dolly Parton created the Imagination Library as a tribute to her father, whose inability to read inspired her to get more books into the hands of children and ignite a love of reading. To-date, the Imagination Library has gifted over 204 million books to children in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Australia, and the Republic of Ireland.

Children between birth and age five living in Royal City (99357) and Royal Slope (99344) are now able to register for a free book each month until their 5th birthday from the Imagination Library. Families can sign up their children by CLICKING HERE.

Laura Spragg, VP of Royal City Friends of the Library stated, “The Royal City Friends of the Library are happy to become an affiliate of Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library. We’re excited to get more books into the homes of kids 0-5 years old within our community!”

Currently, over 52,000 Washington children between 0 -5 are experiencing the magic of a free book each month provided by 42 affiliates throughout the state. The Imagination Library of Washington is continuing program expansion efforts to ensure every child under the age of five can receive a free book in the mail every month from Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library.
